Complete guide to CBDp
If you're on this page, you know what CBD (cannabidiol) is. It's a molecule derived from the hemp or cannabis plant. They're also known as cannabinoids. Several hundred are found in these same plants, including THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBG (cannabigerol), CBC (cannabichromene) and CBN (cannabinol). But have you ever heard of CBDp? In the rest of this article, we'll tell you absolutely everything you need to know about cannabidiphorol.

What we think of CBDp
Understanding CBDp
CBDp is a cannabinoid, just like so many other molecules found in the cannabis plant. But this one differs from many of them, not least in its molecular structure. It has a side chain similar to that of CBD, but longer.
CBDp was discovered in 2019, at the same time as THCp, by a team of Italian researchers. The results of this discovery were subsequently published in the journal Scientific Reports. Two molecules that share many similarities:
-
- Firstly, these are two naturally occurring cannabinoids. They occur naturally in the cannabis plant, but in small quantities (unlike CBD or THC).
- CBDp is produced from CBGa, cannabigerolic acid. CBGa presupposes the creation of CBDpA (cannabidiphorolic acid). Following the decarboxylation process, CBDpA loses its carbon atom and becomes CBDp!
Is CBDp legal in France?
At this stage, very little is known about CBDp. However, it now seems quite clear that this molecule is legal, as its consumption would not result in any psychotropic effects (unlike THC, THCp or HHC).
Be careful, however. There is no legal text that affirms (or contradicts) these claims, which are based on a very broad analysis of the action of cannabidiphorol. If you want to buy CBDp-based products wholesale and resell them to your customers, don't hesitate to find out more before investing.
All you need to know about the alleged effects of CBDp
Let's face it, the supposed effects of CBDp are relatively similar to those of CBD and H4CBD. In fact, although the number of studies carried out on the subject is sorely lacking, it now seems established that CBDp could help combat stress and anxiety-related sensations more effectively.
CBDp is said to target the mechanisms responsible for this, such as cortisol, the stress hormone, and serotonin, the happiness hormone. This action is said to promote relaxation, making you feel better, sleep better and look better.
CBDp could also help combat pain and inflammation, particularly associated with serious illnesses such as Parkinson's disease or Multiple Sclerosis. Finally, CBDp, like CBD, could help combat certain addictions, notably to nicotine and THC.
Side effects of CBDp
As with other cannabinoids, CBDp may have certain undesirable effects, particularly if over-consumed. Too much CBDp could lead to headaches, dizziness, nausea or even diarrhea. A gradual approach is recommended, to get the body used to CBDp and avoid over-consumption.
The differences between CBD and CBDp
But what are the differences between CBD and CBDp? This question is worth asking. First, the molecular structure. The CBDp molecule is a virtual copy-paste of CBD, except that its side chain is, as explained, a little longer. This would enable the molecule to bind better to CB1 and CB2 receptors.
Secondly, from the point of view of effects, although there are not yet many studies on CBDp, it would seem that this molecule is more effective. CBDp is said to act more precisely, more powerfully and for longer. In other words, CBDp is more bioavailable.
CBDp, a therapeutic use?
This is a difficult question to answer. CBDp is a relatively new molecule, and the number of scientific studies carried out is quite small. However, given its proximity to CBD and THCp's impact on health, CBDp could offer a number of advantages. Note, however, that products rich in CBDp are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Always consult a health professional before starting a new supplement regimen.
The coming months and years could be particularly interesting for the world of hemp and therapeutic cannabis in general. Indeed, many things are set to evolve, especially as the need for natural solutions to treat certain ailments and sensations becomes ever more pressing.
What we think of CBDp
At Le Grossiste du CBD, we believe that CBDp represents an opportunity for the future, both from a commercial point of view, with the multiplication of product typologies, and from a health point of view, with the development of a number of studies and research.
Today, however, it's hard to say exactly what CBDp's true potential is, in terms of benefits or otherwise. If it acts like CBD, then CBDp targets the endocannabinoid system and has real chemical potential, as the human body has certain affinities with cannabinoids.
Many more questions remain unanswered, notably about its potency or activity, and its action in the body over the medium or long term.
